The Sweetest Name

Oh what I learn from my sweet baby girl...at only 18 months old...she is already teaching me so much. My last post was on being "still"...and I have been working harder on slowing down and just sitting in moments...allowing God to train my mind and my thoughts to just stop so I can focus on Him and savor the moments that are happening. Those moments that turn into memories all too soon. She is 18 months old today. A year and a half ago she arrived into this world. That experience alone leaves me with no words to express how it feels to carry a baby for 9 months and then to with every ounce of my being bring her into this world. It truly was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love to think back to that day...that moment and all that took place before, and leading up to her entering this world.
So much has happened in her short time on this Earth. She has learned so much...she has grown and changed...so many milestones have came and went. There's always something new that she is working towards. I love my life with her. I love watching her light up at things she gets excited about and when she figures something out for the first time. She treasures everything this life brings her way and everything that she is apart of. Excitement oozes out of her no matter what she's doing. Her smile and laugh light up my life! I love this crazy, beautiful ride I'm on and I could not be more thankful for my precious family!! God is so good!!! My cup runneth over!!

Right now here are a few of my most favorite "Melt my Heart" moments...

*She loves Elmo right now and she has an Elmo toothbrush and toothpaste that she is CRAZY about! She brushes her teeth about 5 times a day!!:) She will go get her Elmo toothbrush and toothpaste from her bathroom drawer. If she can't find them then she will walk up to me or Nick and say "Elmo?" and hold her hand up and shrug her shoulders. When she finds Elmo she will scream "Elmmmooooo!!":)

*She is starting to put two and three words together now and it is so precious!! When Jonah barks she always thinks it is her Poppy coming over...most of the time it is just him barking at nobody...but sometimes it is her Poppy because he loves to stop by and see her on his way home from work. When she hears Jonah bark, she will stop what she is doing...run to me and say "Poppy here"?. It is so sweet to hear her say that!!!

*She helped me vacuum a few weeks ago and since then she has not forgotten it. She knows where the vacuum is and when something triggers her memory of vacuuming with me, she will say "baccuum....all done". :) Of course she does not like the vacuum very much at all and most of the time when I vacuum I have to hold her on my hip while I do it. (Hey, it's a pretty good work out! ;)) She will also say "loud" when we have our "bacuum" talks. And we make a "vrooom" sound. :)

*It is fun now to have her help me around the house. I try to clean some when she is awake. I will give her a cloth and let her dust with me and do other things, too. She thinks it so much fun! We got in the shower this week to clean the glass and she was so cute putting her little face up to the glass and making faces at me. I am sure the glass was cleaner before we started, but it doesn't matter to me...we were having fun and making sweet memories.:)

*She still loves Minnie Mouse, but she is crazy about "Mickey" ("Key")....and "Goofy" (Gookey") right now. She loves to find both of them in a book that she has in her playroom and she loves to watch them  both on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse now!:)

*She loves SAUCE....any kind of sauce...ranch (She calls this "white sauce"), barbecue, ketchup, Chick-Fil-A sauce...just to name a few.:) She will dip anything and everything into her sauce...oranges, carrots, whatever she has. She will suck the sauce off the food and she has been known to even turn the container the sauce is in over and lick it clean!:)

*She loves getting my lotion out of the cabinet in the bathroom and bringing it to me or Nick. We act like we are putting some on us and then we pretend to pat some on her cheeks, too. :) She calls it "shoshun"....and she now adds "momma shoshun"..."daddy shoshun". :):)

*In the kitchen she loves getting things out of the cabinets. She knows where our coffee cups are and she will get them out and say "cofte". :)

*She is so cute now when she looks at books because she will just babble on and on trying to read the words. :)

*We love to hear her when she is finished with eating something...she will say "all goME" for "all gone"....and she turn her little hand upside down and hold it in the air as she shrugs her shoulders.:)

*When she plays with her Minnie Mouse house it is hilarious! She will put Minnie in the bed and say "night night". She likes to go to the door on the playhouse and say "knock knock". It is just precious watching her interact with her little toys. She is already playing pretend so good!!

*Since Nick is doing Real Estate now he comes and goes more often from our house. So when he leaves she will say "daddy work". Now she is starting to say "working". and I also taught her to say that he is making "Money"...she loves to say that.:) When he is not home she will say "daddy...work...money". :):) She is saying that now about her Poppy, too!

*On the way to school in the morning we will sing "Wheels on the Bus"...and I give everybody in our family a "something" to do or say on the bus and she just laughs....Poppy says "du-nuh-nuh-nuh" for his guitar...JoJo says "read a BOOK"...Daddy goes "up and down"...Aunt Kelly goes "muh muh" for giving kisses...Uncle Josh says "too too" because they say that together...MiMi says "doo-da-le-doo"...Grana says "blah-la-la-la"...there are some others too.:)

*We also like to sing songs at bath time and now some of those songs carry over into our car rides, too. :) I will ask her if she wants us to sing our song and she says "bay"...and we sing "Down by the Bay". She has also started filling in the last word for each line of that song and it is so cute!! "bay"..."grow"..."home"..."go"..."do".."say"... after the last line when Nick is with us he will fill in with a silly rhyming thing "Have you ever seen a fish sitting in a dish?" :)

*She loves to just babble sometimes too and she will go on and on. Every now and then while babbling she will say a word that she knows that makes sense. :) It is so cute!!:)

*The sweetest words that I hear her say are "Jesus" and "Amen". Every night after her bath she loves to get her bible and sit in Nick's lap. Nick has always read her a bible story since she was born and she used to sit still and listen to him read. Since she started being more curious she began turning the pages and so he had a hard time finishing a story because she wanted to flip through the bible. Now it has turned into her wanting to flip through the bible to find "baby Jesus". She loves to see the page where Mary is holding Jesus and Joseph is standing with them. It is so cute to hear her say their names. :) Just this week Nick started telling her other people in the bible that have pictures..."Issac"..."Sarah"....so now she likes to find them, too. Then she will give Mary, Jesus, and Joseph a kiss. :)

*This week she started going to sleep without her paci (I will go on about this more later in another post.) So yesterday on our way home she fell asleep in the car. When we got home I tied to slowly and oh so carefully get her out of her car seat and put her in her crib. Of course, it did not work. She has never been able to transition well from the car to her crib. I tried to just put her in her crib anyway and hope she would fall back asleep, but she stood there screaming for 5 minutes after I shut her door. I went back in her room and climbed in her crib with her thinking she would let me rub her back and get her back to sleep, but she just kept standing up. So, I put her on the floor of her room. She went over to her bible that has prayers in it and she turned to the page where there is a picture of a family saying a blessing at the table...she said "Amen"..."Jesus"..."Amen".....It absolutely melted my heart. I was so thankful to have my phone with me and get it on video. Sweet baby girl!!! I couldn't be aggravated anymore that she was not going to nap...not with my precious baby saying "The sweetest name I know"....
