The Nursery...29 Weeks...and more:)

Here is a look at what we have done so far in the nursery....
We are doing a vintage/bird theme. I wanted to do vintage since her name is kind of 'dated' and I've always loved birds. Then, when I found this picture on Pinterest I knew I wanted to do something similar.:)

Our first purchase for Miss Lillian was the crib and dresser/changing table...which I found on Craig's List!! Prior to looking on Craig's List we had given ourselves a budget of what we expected to spend. I had also been looking on the internet at cribs and other nursery furniture. The first crib that I found and fell in love with would require us spending some a big chunk of what we had budgeted on just the crib!! I was talking to my friend Kayla and she mentioned that she found a rug on Craig's List that she bought for her son's nursery. Hmmm....Craig's List...I decided to check it out! Who knew what a gold mine it would turn out to be for us!!:) THANKS KAYLA!!!!!
Here's a picture of the crib that we bought (This picture is what was posted on CL. We haven't put it up in our nursery yet because we are getting the carpet cleaned in August.)
This is a picture of the dresser/changing table that matches the crib. :)
This picture was taken in the nursery and for some reason looks white, but it isn't...it's the same color as the crib.:)
Well after I found such a good deal on Craig's List with the crib and dresser I decided to keep looking EVERY day for everything else we needed.:)
Luckily my in laws live in Georgia so that has been helpful in being able to search for things on CL. My next find was a bit of a drive for us from my in laws house in Georgia, but my mother in law and sister in law were happy to take me to pick it up when Nick and I came in town. It seems like almost every picture of a little girl's nursery that I've seen there is a chandelier soooo I had to have one in Lillian's!!:) Here is a picture of the one that we got for $30!! It is in the process of having some work done to it before we are ready to hang it up. A special thank you to my aunt Jan for helping me get it *Princess room ready*.:):)

Our next purchase from Craig's List was this corner shelf...it was only $60! I put some trinkets on it just to make it look sweet for the picture, but not all of them will stay on there.:)
Love, love, love the sweet trinkets and books that she's gotten so far!! Thanks Emily for the sweet lamb...thanks Cheryl for the cross, picture frame, and book of bible stories...thanks Lacey for her very first Dr. Seuss book!!:):)

A few things that I bought next were not on Craig's List, but still were good deals...
This was a Marshall's Home Goods find for $50!!
I got these pictures at Old Time Pottery for $4.99 each! My mother in law got us the bird cage that is laying down on the dresser. :)

Here's a bird cage that we got from Michael's! I can't remember what we paid for it, but they had all of their spring and summer items marked down 70%!! We got a lot of good deals on different things there and Hobby Lobby, too!!

Now, back to Craig's List.... this is the glider/chair and ottoman that we drove 3 hours away to get!! But remember it only cost $150.:)
It's super comfy, too!!! We got the pillow at Hobby Lobby... regularly $24.99 and I got it for like $6!

The bedding and drapes were ordered this week! I can't wait for them to come in!!:):)
This is the link for the bedding...you can see it better on there:)

Okay, Craig's List came through again for our last 'big' piece of furniture that we need...a glider. Found this one on there for $150, but offered $100.

These are the lamps that I think are my favorite purchase from Craig's List. We got them both for $25!! Thanks again Kayla and Daniel for risking your lives for the sake of Lillian's nursery!;-)
I'm not sure yet where they are going to go...still got a ways to go before everything is figured out.:)

The bedding came in this week! YAY!!!:):)

I put the skirt against the chair to see what it would look like. It matches perfectly! The same exact colors that are in the pillow are in the bedding, too!:) I can't wait to see it all come together!!
(In case you were wondering:))
Monday was another laaazy summer day. It rained all day so I didn't feel that guilty just laying around. Plus, I keep reminding myself that pretty soon these lazy all about me days are going to be non-existent!!:) I ate some oatmeal for breakfast around 8 then laid back down and woke up around 11. I had a bowl of Special K Protein cereal for lunch and Nick ate some tuna. I have to admit I kind of miss being able to eat a tuna sandwich. Oh well...only 81 days until her estimated arrival.:) I'm sure she likes my protein cereal better anyway.;-)
Dinner was Taco Casserole. Since I've been pregnant I've been trying to be very consistent with cooking and eating healthy/clean. Here's the link this recipe came from... http://melaniemitro.blogspot.com/2013/08/clean-eating-taco-casserole.html
She has a lot of other good recipes on there, too. So, Taco Casserole for us wasn't exactly "tacoy"...somehow I forgot to put the pack of taco seasoning in the meat and let it simmer before I started layering everything into the dish. After it was in the oven it dawned on me...oh yeah...the seasoning. OOPS! Nick blamed it on my 'baby brain'...yeah I will go with that.:) The rain finally stopped and mom and I got to go on our nightly walk. I came home and took a bath then went to bed:) I woke up around 2:15 for my nightly call to the potty...It's always so hard to fall back asleep once I've been up because she starts moving around and all I want to do is just feel her moving!:) So, I laid there for about an hour before I dozed back off.
This morning I tried to fix a new breakfast dish that I pinned on Pinterest. Since we have been 'eating clean' we have found a HUGE love for Quinoa. So, I attempted to make Apple Cinnamon Quinoa Bake. (Here's the link: http://www.fitsugar.com/Apple-Cinnamon-Quinoa-Breakfast-Bake-32210316?utm_campaign=default_hp&utm_source=hover_pin ) Looking at the picture it looks scrumptious! Not to mention I spent $10 on ground cloves at the grocery store..so I was GOING to like this dish! Hmm..not so much. I think my mind was thinking yuuum this is going to be like a healthy breakfast CAKE (according to the picture of the slice on the website). However, it was not that at all. Nick ate his helping and mine and claims he could eat the whole thing. Maybe it will taste better tomorrow morning?!?
I met my friend Tonya at Fatz for lunch. Our history is somewhat crazy seeing how we are still good friends after the story behind how we met. We both dated "Cowpens Boys" who were best friends. Both of our relationships lasted 7 years. She actually got married, but it wasn't in God's plan for them to remain that way and now she is engaged and on her way to Happily Ever After.:):) It's just funny to me how we met through two people who are no longer apart of our lives anymore and we are still very good friends.:) Anyway...we ate and talked at Fatz for an hour and a half! I texted her after I left telling her how thankful I was for her friendship. I don't have many friends who I can just talk and talk and talk with. We always have a great time when we finally make time to get together!!
At 6 I went to church for our annual VBS Women's Event. It was a lot of fun!:) My sister-in-law, Kelly was there and her friend Kennedy and also Nick's stepmom, Joy, and her mom, Laine. We ate some really yummy food...they had a variety of different types of salads and then for dessert Caramel Cheesecake! So, so good!! After that it was praise and worship time...first we sang some songs. Here is one of the songs that we sang. :)...
Then, we listened to several speakers. My friend, Haley's mom is the women's counselor at our church. She's the one that puts the event together every year and she also teaches part of it. At the end of her message, she shared about Haley giving birth to Banks 10 weeks early. Of course I know the story because Haley and I are friends, but just hearing her mom tell it gave me cold chills. Listening to how God protected Haley and Banks and had them be right where they needed to be up until she had her was just incredible. I love how God uses us! I sent this to Haley the day before she had Banks. I knew in my heart that she needed encouragement, but I had no idea what God had planned the very next day.

Since Haley had preeclampsia her life was in danger, almost if not more than little Banks. The longer she stayed pregnant the worse she got and the danger of something fatal happening to her increased. God deserves all of the glory! He knew when Banks' birthday would be and He knew how it would all turn out. Definitely thankful for the way things turned out and praising Him for keeping them both safe and healthy!! Here is little Banks praising Him!:)

The title of the VBS event was "Sacred Whisper" and it was about hearing God's voice speak to us. The story from the bible they taught from was 1 Kings 19. I loved hearing how Elijah was at such a state of desperation...enough to ask God to take his own life...and God so empathetically sought him out and revived him. He filled him with not only food and drink for the journey that lay ahead, but also with encouragement that what he was doing was worth it. As Christians it's so easy to feel defeated especially when our circumstances are so extreme and exhausting and it feels like our prayers are not being heard or answered. I think because our world so easily consumes us it's also hard for us to see the blessings God sends us despite the storms we are in. He doesn't promise us it's going to be easy, but He does promise never to leave us or forsake us. God definitely spoke to me and reminded me to come to Him and just be still so I can hear His voice. He will always give me what I need. I just have to come to Him.
When I got home around 10 Nick and I climbed into bed. He wanted to read Lillian a story from her book of bible stories. I picked out the story that we read about at VBS. Then, I read the same story to her from my bible. After that it was sleepy time!:) Thank you God for a day filled with so many blessings! Your love, your grace, your mercy is endless and I'm so thankful!
Nick had to drive to Georgia this morning to go to work in the office today...so he was up around 5:30, which meant I woke up, too. After he left I laid in the bed...prayed and talked to Lillian. Then, I dozed back off until about 8:00. Then, I ate some cereal...Special K Protein cereal with strawberries. YUM!:) Kimberly came over around 10:30 and we got ready. We went to run some errands...Target...Lillian got some white shorts for next summer that were on clearance. :) Then we went to eat lunch at Jason's Deli...yummy salad bar and then of course ice cream for dessert! I think she really liked the ice cream!! After that we went to Christian Supply and then to Kirkland's. Nick got home around 6. We went to Samantha and Travis' house to get a stroller and car seat that they were selling us.:) Such sweet friends!!
Jonah had to give the stroller and car seat a sniff test.:)

Well it started out like a 'normal' Thursday...then...I don't know what happened. I woke up and started cleaning...sweeping, mopping, bathrooms, dusting...typical day so far. Then at 8 and fixed some oatmeal and drank some orange juice. Typical day so far. Well I noticed that I wasn't feeling her moving at all. I laid down in the bed and jiggled my belly trying to get her going, but nothing. Fear. Worry. Doubt. It all began to consume me. I prayed. God please speak to my heart. Take away my fear. I only want to hear from you. I went on with my morning without feeling her much. Just wasn't normal. I am used to feeling her bounce around like a little 'jumping bean'. I called the doctor's office at 12 and left a message for the nurse. Then at 1 I decided to go up there. When I got there I sat in my car for a minute still trying to decide if I was overreacting or not. What happened? She started moving around. I sat in my car for about 30 minutes feeling her move and I decided to leave. I headed over to my Aunt Jan's house because I was supposed to be there at 2:00. I called the doctor's office again and talked to a nurse this time. She told me to monitor the movement because I should be feeling her an average of 5 times an hour. UGH. That definitely hadn't been how my day had gone. I stopped by Chic-Fil-A and did something that I hadn't done the whole time I've been pregnant. I got a kid's meal with a lemonade and a cookies n' cream milkshake. Surely that would get her going.
I was at my Aunt Jan's until around 6. We went over nursery ideas and what all she has done so far to the chandelier and the mobile. They are both going to be beyond beautiful!! I CANNOT wait to see it all finished!! I am soo grateful for her craftiness and her willingness to help me have the *perfect* nursery for Miss Lillian.:) I called the doctor's office again at 4:45 because she still wasn't moving much..if at all. The nurse told me to go to Labor and Delivery at the hospital so they could monitor me. I laid down on the couch and what happened? She moved around! Aunt Jan felt her and so did I. OK. Another sign. Forget about it. Stop worrying!! I called in a baked spaghetti from Capri's to bring over to Christopher and Haley's house. When I got home to get Nick, I laid down on the bed for a few minutes to see if we could feel her and we both did a little bit.
Here are some little birdies that my Aunt Jan has decorated. They're going to be a part of the mobile that she's making!:):)

We headed over to see our friends. We ate dinner and spent time catching up with them.:) Such sweet, sweet friends that we are so grateful to have!! They showed us a preemie diaper that their little Banks is wearing in the NICU right now. It was SO tiny. It is amazing to me that she is doing so well! Definitely in God's hands!! Too precious!! Haley talked about how hard it is to leave her every night when they leave to go home. I cannot imagine leaving my baby there either and I haven't even met her yet. She talked about how crazy they both are about her and how they love her so much it hurts. Too sweet! She said they both just stand there and stare at her when they get to see her. They have no idea what their life was like before her. How incredible! I can't wait to experience that level of love for our little Lillian!!
We left about 8:30 so they could head to the hospital and see Banks. Nick and I sat outside for a little bit talking and then we came inside to do our nightly T.V. watching. Nick likes to watch Cheers and I will watch it with him until I doze off. He read Lillian a bible story before we got too sleepy...it was about the Widow and the Oil. It taught a good lesson on how God will always provide.
I woke up around midnight for my nightly potty break. I laid there and felt her move around for about an hour. Of course I was analyzing every movement...was it one I was use to or was something different?1? Still worrying. Silly me.
Also, exciting news today for our friends Brooke and J.P...their sweet baby Ace was born!!:):)
Thank you God, for your wondrous works! Ace is just perfect!:)

Worry got the best of me again today...I woke up around 6ish and laid there feeling her kick for about an hour. She was pretty active which made me feel good. I had eggs and a glass of orange juice for breakfast. I thought I would feel her move some after the O.J., but nothing really. I tried to stay occupied so I wasn't dwelling on it again, but I just kept thinking maybe if I went to the doctor I would feel better...leave with a peace of mind. So...Nick kind of pushed me out the door too.. I think he was tired of hearing me go on and on about being worried. ;-) I went to the doctor at 10:15...the nurse checked my blood pressure and all of that and I told her what was going on. She hooked me up to a machine for 20 minutes that monitored her heartbeat and movements. I sat in a comfy recliner and they gave me a little clicker to click when I felt her move. I loved being able to hear her heartbeat and I could tell when she moved because a muffled sound came from the machine, too. So sweet! Now, if they would just let me take that little machine home with me then everything would be GREAT!! The nurse said that everything looked great and normal! She even said that the results showed that my baby was doing something that they don't normally see on the results...it was showing that her heart rate increased when she was active and then rested at a normal rate when she wasn't moving around. What a proud mommy I was! My little overachiever!! HAHA! The doctor signed off on the results from being monitored and I was on my way home. Ahhh...a BIG sigh of relief. Thank you Lord for a great report...definitely a blessing to get good news!! When I was there being monitored a woman came in to be monitored, too. She sat in another chair that was in the room that I was in. The nurse was hooking her up to the machine and I heard her tell the woman "I know you haven't felt her move, but when you do click this button." The nurse could not find the baby's heartbeat. I just sat there as a feeling of sadness came over me. I know what she was feeling all too well. A little over a year ago that was me. Waiting patiently to hear my baby's heartbeat, but hearing nothing but a muffled sound as the nurse moved the monitor over my belly. I prayed for that woman...for God to give her strength and comfort. The nurse brought in another monitor and tried it. I couldn't tell, but it seemed that they heard something. The doctor's office only had one ultrasound machine that was working and I think they must have decided to take her in there to check on the baby. A few minutes after she left the room I was in, I heard a loud scream from across the hall. I just knew it had to be from her. How devastating... As I left the doctor's office that day with my good report I kept being reminded that somebody else wasn't feeling the way I was. I will be praying for that woman. I know God has a plan and as hard as what she experienced today was He will bring good from it.
I came home and fixed Nick and I a tomato sandwich for lunch! YUM! ONE of the many reasons I love summer. It is definitely a symbol of summer time to me! From as far back as I remember my Gram would fix us tomato sandwiches. She always added salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar..so of course when I make mine...that's exactly what I do. My Gram will live through me in everything that she taught me!! *HUGS*
Nick and I got ready and went to a daycare that I had called about getting Lilly started at in January when I have to go back to work after my maternity leave. We were going up there to 'tour' the place and find out more information. My friend Haley, who just had Baby Banks is planning on keeping Lilly for us, but I also want her to be enrolled in a daycare in case there are days where Haley or Banks is sick or have doctors appts., etc. So, the 'tour' was great! The ladies were super nice!! I think it also made everything seem even more 'real' to us...knowing that we will have a baby who someone will be taking care of! It was another sweet, new memory for Nick and I to make together as we prepare for her to get here.:)
I fixed Balsamic Chicken and roasted veggies for dinner.
Here are links for the recipes (we really liked both of them!!)...
Nick and I ate then we decided to go to the mall. He wanted to look at workout stuff at Dick's and I wanted to go by Ross. I had started packing the night before and I knew I was over packing, but I wanted to bring any and everything that fits right now! I also wanted to go by Ross to see if they had anything else that would be cute and pass the 'preggo comfy' test.
When we got home my mom came over to walk. It was good to see her before we leave for the beach in the morning for a week.
We watched a little T.V. and then finally fell asleep.:)

What a day...what a day...what a day! I woke up around 6:30...took a shower then ate some oatmeal for breakfast. Our first set time to leave was 9...however that's not what ended up happening. We took Jonah to the kennel around 10:30. I HATE leaving him there...I cry every time. He is my baby!! I can only imagine what it's going to be like when I have to leave Lilly!! After some unplanned things came up we were probably on the interstate around noon.:) Traffic was not fun at all since we ended up leaving so late. :(:( I fell asleep for a little bit and then when I woke up we were pretty much stopped in traffic. YAY for being 6 months pregnant and loving car rides!! We stopped to eat at Fatz in Orangeburg and then we were on our way again to finish the last bit of our drive.:)
We finally made it to Kiawah and got to our house for the week. After getting settled in we went to eat dinner at Gilligan's. After a delicious meal that just happened to include some Fried Pickles...we were on our way to do our grocery shopping for the week. Never a dull moment with this crew! We had 10 minutes before BI-LO closed...10 minutes to shop for meals for 8 people for one week. Luckily the lists were already made...everybody took one and off we went to get what we needed.:) When we got back to the house we unloaded the groceries and then spent time hanging out. We downloaded Catch Phrase and played it for awhile! It's funny how a silly game can get so intense...especially with the guys!!:) Around 1 A.M. we officially called it a day!:)
Traffic=No fun.

Sunday started off pretty early for me...I was up around 9 A.M...I slept in a little later than my usual 7 A.M. What are vacations for anyway?!?;-) Everybody else woke up by 11 A.M. and we all ate as we got up. We just hung out at the house talking and watching T.V. before we finally made our way to the beach around 1:30. We stayed out there for about an hour or so before we all agreed that the wind was blowing the sand just a little too much to enjoy being out there. So, we headed to the pool. We swam there for a bit before heading in around 5. Most of us took a nap after we took a shower. We had ribs, salad, and potatoes for supper and brownies for dessert. After dinner we took a bike ride around the island then came back for Round 2 of Catch Phrase.:) Another intense game that despite their hard work and efforts ended in the girls winning once again! Bed time was around midnight. Another long, but great day at the beach!:)
Look what happened this morning after I was washing dishes. Lilly sent us some hugs and kisses.:):) Too precious!!

Lamaze Class...28 Weeks...and more:)

I hope we passed!! A few weeks ago my friend Erica (who is also pregnant right now with a little girl and is due in October...only 8 days after me!!)  and I signed up for a breast feeding class at the hospital. We decided to bring our hubbies so they could learn just as much as we were about what was ahead. I figured if I was going to put my body through all of that for a year then the least Nick could do was go sit in a class for 2 hours!! Somehow I never mentioned to Nick the name of the class...I just kept saying we are going to a class.
A few nights before the class, we were at our friend Samantha and Travis' house. Samantha let me go through some clothes that she was going to consign. Their daughter, Kensley, was born last October so the seasons and sizes for she and Lillian will be the same.:) As we were leaving their house they were asking if we were definitely going to go to the lake this weekend. I said oh yes...Nick will need a mini vacay after our class Thursday night. ;-) Then Nick, Travis, and JP (JP is married to Brooke who is due next week with a little boy, Ace:)) started talking about what kind of class it was. Somehow they came up with it being a Lamaze class. I just smiled and never corrected them. They were giving Nick a hard time about going to a class and I just didn't want to add to the moment by saying it was a breast feeding class. :)
Well...the days passed and before I knew it, Thursday night arrived. I really was feeling somewhat guilty that he didn't know exactly what we were going to be learning about for the next two hours, but I thought it was better to just let him figure it out when we got there at this point!! We met Erica and Daniel in the parking lot and were walking in together. Nick and Daniel were walking and talking behind us. Daniel asked Nick if he was ready for this and Nick said "I can't believe they signed us up for a 2 hour Lamaze class." Daniel's face said it all. Before anything else was said I admitted (to Nick) that it wasn't a Lamaze class. Nick said well what kind of class is it?!? Daniel said "It's a class on the best nutrition for your baby." Then we got to talking about how it was a breast feeding class. :) Nick laughed it off and was very attentive during the class. He was truly a good sport about it! We both really learned a lot! It made me feel so much better about what I was going to be doing for the next year of my life. It still overwhelms me and looks like it is going to be a lot of work, but the benefits far outweigh me not trying it at all. Nick did get 'rewarded' after our class....he LOVES Pizza Inn and wanted to go so bad, so against my trying to get us to just go home and eat we went. I guess he deserved some chocolate chip pizza after what we just learned about. ;-)
Nick and I after the "Lamaze Class" ;-)
Nick enjoying his 'reward' for being such a good student ;-)

Awe! Our little "eggplant". :):) We went to the doctor on Thursday morning (July 17) for my 28 week appointment. My glucose test was scheduled for this one, which I was dreading very badly after what I had heard about it. BUT they also were going to do another ultrasound to check Lillian's size. That is one good thing about being diagnosed with MTHFR mutation...they have done a lot more ultrasounds than normal. SO...despite the sugar test that I wasn't looking forward to, I was definitely looking forward to seeing her again. We hadn't seen her since the 20 week anatomy ultrasound and that one we really didn't get to see her move around a lot because the ultrasound tech was trying to get so many still shots and measurements. My appointment was at 8:30. I ate some eggs and drank some water for breakfast. I had to do the normal "pee in a cup" when the nurse called me back, then she checked my blood pressure (98/63) and weighed me (125.4 lbs.) So far, so good. :) Then, it was TIME. "What flavor do you want...orange or fruit punch?" Oh I already had that figured out way before I got there after asking every person that I knew who had already experienced this. :) Orange it was! She said I had 5 minutes to drink it, but after the first gulp I was just ready to get it done so I drank it in about 3 minutes. I had to wait one hour before they took my blood. The good thing was we had the ultrasound next. :) Lillian looked so perfect!!! That is all the ultrasound tech kept saying... "perfect"...."perfect". :):) Everything was measuring just where it should be. She measured the amount of amniotic fluid, the circumference of her head, and her leg bone. All were right at the 28 week mark. She also said she was in the 54th percentile for her size and everything so she was just where she should be at 2 lbs. 10oz. Her heartbeat was 141 BPM. She was being a little bit stubborn though when the ultrasound tech was trying to measure her head...she just kept burying it. :) She must get the stubborn part from her daddy! (yeah right!) It was so cute one time when she was playing with her toes!! I just couldn't help but think WOW! What a miracle...this little baby is growing inside of me!! It was neat to feel her move and then see it at the same time on the screen. :) I wish I could see her all the time! BUT it won't be long before she is here!! By the time the ultrasound was over it had been an hour so it was time for my blood to be taken. FUN! (NOT..I have always been scared of needles. When I was little they used to have to chase me around the doctor's office just to prick my finger!!) Anyway...I am a big girl now so I sat down and let her draw my blood. HA! We met with the doctor for a few minutes after and she went over what she saw from the ultrasound and reaffirmed us that everything looked great!! The next appointment was set....3 weeks from now....another ultrasound:)
I sent this pic collage out to family and friends after our appointment:):) I love the verse on it..."He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to His heart." -Isaiah 40:11

What was this week like for us?!?!?!? (In case you were wondering:))
The night before I found a glider/chair and ottoman on Craig's List for $150! It looked to be in great condition because the couple who had it kept a cover on it every time they had used it for the past 2 years! It was a deal that I did not want to pass up! We had budgeted to spend $500 on a chair and ottoman so this was definitely going to be way better than that!! However....the chair was located 3 hours away!! Somehow (maybe I should get some credit here for a little convincing, but it really didn't take much!) Nick and I decided that it was worth it and we left Monday night to go get it...James Island here we come!! We got the chair and ottoman after our 3 hour bonding time in the car. Since we were at the beach we decided to have dinner before heading back. Nick had shrimp and grits and I had grilled shrimp and vegetables. It was sooo yummy!! Then, we were back in the car for our 3 hour return trip. :) We were exhausted when we got home. Nick joked that he was going to sleep in the new chair that night!!:):)
I spent most of Tuesday being lazy since Monday was exhausting with the 6 hour car drive. Nick put my 1998 explorer on Craig's List a day before and someone was already coming to look at it so he came that afternoon. Tuesday night mom came over to walk, but it was raining and lightning. We walked down to Samantha and Travis' house to go through Kensley's clothes for me to buy for Lillian. I got such cute stuff!! I can't wait for her to be here and I get to dress her up!! Mom ate dinner with us...I fixed Pesto Chicken and Cheddar Broccoli Quinoa Bites....yuuuum!:):) We had strawberries and nutella for dessert! EXTRA YUM!!
I didn't do very much today either....I was working on this blog a good bit trying to get it caught up so I could send the link out after the appointment on Thursday. Nick and I ate leftovers for dinner and I went ahead and cooked Italian Quinoa Bake for us to have for lunch tomorrow and dinner before our class. Mom came over and Nick and I took Jonah for a walk with her.
Doctor's Appointment that morning...then a lazy morning and afternoon before "our class" that night followed by a well-balanced meal at Pizza Inn!;-)
I went by Honeybaked Ham to pick up some turkey meat for us to take to the lake this weekend for sandwiches. Then, I went by Starbucks for a decaf Java Chocolate Chip Frappuccino...I also went to see my Mom  at work and brought her a Frappuccino and a breakfast sandwich so she could see the pictures from the ultrasound yesterday. Then I had to go by Ross since I was nearby! I bought a little sleeper for Lillian and I got a tank top for me. :) After I got my shopping fix in I came home. Nick and I left to head to Lake Hartwell for the weekend later Friday afternoon. On the way to the lake we stopped and met my friend Kayla and her husband Daniel (and their little boy Bryan...who is beyond precious!! He is the cutest little boy ever!) so we could get the lamps that she had for me. I found them on Craig's List a few weeks ago and the seller was located in Anderson. Kayla and Daniel met the seller to get the lamps for me since they live in Anderson!! Such sweet friends!!:):) We got to the lake and just spent time hanging out with his sisters who were staying for the weekend, too!
The weather prediction for the weekend turned out to be right...rain, rain, rain! We knew it wasn't going to be good weather, but we figured it would be nice to have a change of scenery even if we were just going to be lazy. Saturday was spent watching T.V. (which is a huge luxury if you live like we do with only an antenna box which gets about 10 channels and Netflix...what can I say? My husband is a penny pincher!!..I'm just curious as to how much longer this money saving with no cable is going to last. Especially when football season rolls around and we aren't going to near as many games as we are used to going to since we will have a new baby! I will keep you posted on that for sure!!:)) Saturday night we drove into Seneca to eat at Los Amigos for dinner. I had Quesadilla Mexicana...which was yummy, but I knew I would be paying for it later for sure! That's another pregnancy side effect that I've just about gotten used to...acid reflux...what I eat decides to try to come back up later and remind me of just how good it really was! I also feel soo bloated at night and I knew Mexican food was only going to magnify that!! Oh well....it was good:) Then we headed back to watch T.V...I think we were watching several movies at a time..."13 Going on 30" and "Wedding Crashers". It was night night time around 11:00.:)
It finally stopped raining, but was pretty dreary most of the day. We just hung out with Madison and Kayleigh watching what teenage girls like to watch...they found a Twilight movie marathon on TV! HAHA!:) We headed home around 5, unloaded the car, dropped off Jonah and the hopped back in the car to drive to Simpsonville to pick up a glider that I found on Craig's List. This completes the last BIG piece of furniture that we need. YAY!:) We are keeping the glider in our room and the chair we got earlier this week is in the nursery. We grabbed some dinner on our way home. Then, mom came over for a late night walk around 8:30. Nick and I climbed into bed about 10:00 and watched a movie...I think it was called "Thin Ice".
(See there is always a positive to everything!!;-))
I wanted to spend some time on this post kind of recapping what my pregnancy has been like...here are some things that have surprised me, enlightened me, scared me, encouraged me, etc...
-Every day is different. That has been surprising to me. I guess it's just because I've either heard people say "I hated being pregnant...I was miserable." or "Being pregnant was the best experience of my life! I loved it!" I feel like I have had a mixture of those two extremes and some 'in between' that, too.
Of course at the very beginning just finding out that in fact I was pregnant was so exciting! I was at the top of the top at that point! I couldn't wait to experience what was ahead! I read blogs and googled names and pinned on Pinterest at all hours of the night and just soaked up every moment of anticipating us starting a family!
Then of course the 'morning sickness' decided to show up and that made me feel miserable! I seriously had never felt so close to death in all of my life! I felt AWFUL! I was sad that food that I had loved once before was not at all what I wanted to even THINK about let alone eat anymore! My taste for food had changed considerably! Just saltine crackers and ginger ale please. :) Car rides were horrible! I've always had a little case of motion sickness...mostly in car rides that are over an hour long I just feel nauseous, but this was much worse than that! Needless to say I did a lot of sleeping...I felt much better when I was asleep! So, at this point pregnancy was not a 'love' for me. However, I did hear about people who had 'morning sickness' waaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than I did, so it helped me suck it up and not complain too much. Mine wasn't that extreme and I knew it could be a lot worse. AND they say that being sick means a healthy baby...soo...there's the rainbow after the rain. :)

That quote really is funny and there is some truth behind it for sure....but here's my take on it...
It's so funny when people find out you're pregnant because they do want to share their story with you. However, good, bad, gross, scary...I wanted to hear them! I know everybody's story is seriously different so mine hasn't been nor will it be JUST LIKE anyone else's. :)
Nobody really tried to tell us what to name the baby...except my Aunt Jan ;-) She has two boys and I guess if she were to ever of had a girl she would have named her Caroline (They are HUGE Gamecock fans!) I kind of already had names picked out before I got pregnant. Nick and I had talked about it probably as far back as when we were dating. Ava was a name that I liked for a little girl for awhile, but that changed. I wanted to go with family names...so that is how Lillian Mae got her name. :) Lillian is my great grandma...she was my dad's dad's mom. I never got to meet her because she died before I was born, but I still think it's sweet that our baby will have a name from our family. Mae came from my Gram...my most favorite person ever...her maiden name was Doris Mae Walker and her mom was Minnie Mae. Lillian Mae it is:):)
As far as anyone trying to touch my belly and me not liking it...it's gotten better. At first it was a little strange. Especially when the only way you knew I was pregnant was if I told you because I wasn't even showing yet. My mom likes to touch my belly the most. She actually likes to rub all over my belly every time she sees me! I think it's sweet though that she's so excited!
The last part in the quote "yes I'm going to eat that"...I haven't really eaten anything crazy. When I found out I was pregnant I would eat a bowl (or two) of Lucky Charms every night before I went to sleep. Then came the weeks of the saltine crackers and ginger ale diet. After my second trimester started I began feeling better so I slowly got my appetite back for food that I liked before I was pregnant. I really liked eating salads and I would have one for lunch and sometimes for dinner, too. I found myself liking ranch dressing a little more than normal, but not like "I HAVE TO HAVE IT". I've always liked fruit, but I have wanted it more since being pregnant. It seems that I like cold, refreshing foods I guess?!? And yes pickles are good, but I've always liked them so I wouldn't say it was a craving either. Ice cream is good too, but isn't it always?!?:):)

These are all pretty funny and somewhat true for me...

Getting comfortable to fall asleep is not as easy as it used to be, but I'm sure it could be worse if I was (and more than likely will be) much bigger. However, when it feels like you have a beach ball attached to your stomach you obviously can't move around and get comfy quite as easily.

Peeing sooo much more has definitely been a big adjustment. I dread long car rides now because I know we are going to have to stop for potty breaks every few miles.
Sitting up is definitely a little more challenging and sometimes it seems like the biggest feat when I do maneuver around and get myself up. :)

This is very, very true! I can be eating breakfast and already be planning out what I am going to eat for snack, lunch, and dinner that day! Being hungry is a constant that never feels like it goes away!!

Here are some of my pregnancy "frustrations" if I had to come up with some...
*Being nervous about eating certain things that are on the "Do NOT eat list"...certain cheeses, deli meat, seafood, etc.. I am constantly on Google before eating just about anything to make sure it's OK. I have "cheated" a little bit though, but not terribly bad. If I do have something that I'm not 100% sure about then I ask Nick 100 times "Am I going to be ok?" "Is our baby going to be ok?" Of course his answer is always the same "Yessssssss". He says what do you think people did long ago before there was this list of things to not eat??? (He's so comforting!:))
*Night times are the worst..for sure! Not certain when this little trend actually started, but uggggh I dread it every day! I know whatever I have for dinner is going to make me feel like I'm 10x bigger than I am...B-L-O-A-T-E-D!! Then my back always hurts worse than it does all day. Getting comfortable is almost impossible and if I do get comfortable it doesn't last long before I'm trying to figure out a new comfortable position!!
*Not being able to work out. I am by no means a fitness queen, but since I had worked out for a few months with him before I got pregnant I got to really enjoy it. There is just something motivating about it and a feeling of accomplishment. I think it's hard too, watching my body go through so many changes and feeling like I am not 'fit' at all anymore...just a lazy eating machine! Not to mention Nick has been working out more than he ever has. I am talking two and three times a day! So I'm sitting over here feeding my face and he's sweating bullets working out. I know some women can work out while they are pregnant, but since I wasn't consistent with it the month I got pregnant I felt like I wasn't conditioned enough to continue it. I've done a few YouTube videos here and there...prenatal yoga and exercise...things like that, but I just don't want anything to hurt our baby. Guess I will try to start again after she arrives. :)
*Swollen ankles have been an issue at times, but not a consistent issue...yet. We went to my sister-in law, Madison's high school graduation in May and it was very, very hot! I had to take my sandals off because they were getting so tight with my ankles swelling. Then, when it was time to leave and I had to put them back on it was a little hard, but that is really the only 'major' issue that I've had with it.

*Clothes not fitting anymore has definitely been an adjustment. I got away with wearing my pre-preggo pants for awhile, but then it got to the point where they wouldn't button anymore. It's funny too when I put on a shirt that just looks like it would be a good comfy preggo shirt and then I look in the mirror and it looks like a big balloon! I'm thankful for maxi skirts, shorts with an elastic waistband, and palazzo pants! I've also been wearing more t-shirts, gym shorts, and work out outfits than ever before because they feel good! I also have an even bigger love now of not wanting to wear a regular bra. It feels even more constricting than before...not to mention it's a little more full than it used to be. ;-) Sports bras have been my favorite or the bandeau bras! Bathing suit shopping was not nearly as fun this spring as it normally is. I decided to forgo my normal itsy bitsy Victoria's Secret bathing suit order in place of stocking up on some tankinis from Marshall's and Target. :):)

Here are some things that I have LOVED since I got pregnant...

*Feeling her move around! I remember at first it was just little 'flutters' and I would get so excited feeling her even though it wasn't that often. Nick tried to feel her move then, but it was still too early. Finally as more weeks went by her movements were much more obvious. I remember the first time he felt her move his eyes just lit up! He said "What is she doing in there?" Now she moves around all of the time and I LOVE it! I just start talking to her no matter where I'm at or what I'm doing. I love reading to her and trying to sing to her. Nick likes to put the headphones on my belly at night and let her listen to piano music. Then we lay there and watch the headphones bounce around. I call her my little wiggle worm.:)
*I have several friends who are pregnant right now and it has been fun experiencing this with them! My friend Erica is having a girl and is due October 18th. Erica and I started teaching the same year and we teach right across the hall from each other. We were both in each other's wedding! I'm so glad that our little girls are going to be best friends!! My friend Haley was due at the end of September, but she had to have her baby early. She just had her baby girl banks on July 18th.:) Both mom and baby are doing great!! Haley and I met at church. Nick's stepmom, Joy and Haley's mother-in-law, Suzanne, are best friends. Haley is married to Christopher. We enjoy hanging out with them when we get the chance! I am so excited for Banks and Lillian to be best friends!!:) My friend Brooke is having a little boy and she is due at the end of this month. Brooke and her husband, J.P. live in our neighborhood. I can't wait to meet Ace when he arrives! I know he and Lillian are going to be such good friends, too!:)

*I love, love, love this book!!!! It was a gift for me from Joy on Mother's Day! I finished this book over a weekend. It was so good that I couldn't stop reading it! Sometimes I would laugh or cry or both at the same time!! It is a perfect book for moms to be or even if you're already a mommy. It's a memoir of her journey of becoming a mommy to her little girl.:) Here is a link to her blog: http://thebigmamablog.com/sparkly-green-earrings/. I also got her other book for our anniversary and it is great, too! It's a memoir of her married life!:) I definitely recommend you checking out her blog to read more about her and and her books.:):)

*I love, love, love this book, too!!! My aunt Jan bought this for me! It is a devotional that goes week by week throughout your pregnancy. The prayers are incredible that she suggests you pray at each stage of pregnancy. There is also a journaling time for each devotion. Very thought provoking and constantly brings the baby to the feet of our Heavenly Father. I have loved reading this and journaling! I can't wait for Lillian to read what I wrote one day!!!:):)

*Right now my favorite snack is strawberries with nutella! It is truly heavenly!! I have to thank my mother-in-law, Cheryl, for introducing me to Nutella! I love it on just about anything. If you haven't tried it, then please do yourself a favor and TRY IT and pick up some strawberries to have with it if you really want to enjoy it!!:)
The exciting times of my life and my pregnancy will continue next week.... :):)
