It's beginning...

...to look a lot like Christmas!:)

Well our house started looking like "Christmas" way back in November! After Lilly's Santa pictures we were in full swing with getting excited about what this time of year brings. There are still a few things I need to get for our house to be finished...stockings...runner for table...and bows/tree toppers...oh yeah and a million decorations to fill our ginormous tree! BUT other than that..we are all done decorating! Some other fun things that we've done during the past few weeks...buy gifts...ride around looking at Christmas lights...watch a few Christmas movies...watch the Michael BublChristmas Special (SOO LOVE!!)...sing Christmas songs (on constant repeat)...wrap books for my kiddos at school...read Lilly Christmas stories (Nick's favorite is "Christmas Mouse;-)).
The fun is just beginning though!! Today is December 17th so we have family get togethers coming up of course Lilly's FIRST Christmas Eve and Christmas morning!!:):)

Our house lit up:) Chevy Chase style:)

 Lilly's tree in her nursery:)

Our trees in the backyard with colored lights:)

Our tree in the kitchen:)

Our mantle...minus stockings!

 Nick's village in the hallway

Our hallway tree and village

 Tree in our office:)

Our tree in our living room! No decorations! It fell over a few days after Nick put it up so I decided not to waste the time or money putting ornaments on it in case it fell again!!

On another not as cheerful note...she turned 10 weeks old today. 10 weeks!! Which means 2 1/2 months!!! I am just in absolute disbelief that this much time has gone by!! Everybody was excited about getting their Christmas card from us with her precious pictures on it! She looks NOTHING like she did when those were taken though! She has changed so much!!

I have cried everyday this week thinking about going back to work in January. It is starting to hit me that I won't be spending my days with her anymore. I will miss her sweet smiles, coos, and the way she just stares into my eyes. I keep thinking about her first few days at daycare and how I feel like I am abandoning her and she will look around and not know who is holding her or where she's at. I know it's apart of life, but goodness it breaks my heart into a million tiny pieces! :**( I don't want anyone else seeing and living the memories and moments that I want to share with her. I have been so blessed to have been able to take off as much time as I have from work though and I try to keep reminding myself that I've had a lot more time than most people get. I know it will never be enough though. So for the next few weeks that I have left at home with her I am going to hold her even tighter, kiss her even more, and just soak up every single moment with her like never before!! Oh and I will be counting down the days until spring break...and then summer break!!
I think Aerosmith said it best... I know this song is a love song and not meant to be about not wanting to miss a baby, but it came to mind as I was sitting here and all of the lyrics are exactly how I feel about not wanting to go back to work because I don't want to miss a thing. I want to experience every smile, laugh, and coo. Every little thing...every big thing...everything. I don't want to miss anything.

Life with...

Here are a few highlights from the past few weeks...
Thursday, December 11
My mom watched Lilly for us so we could have our date night.:) When we had our first date night almost a month ago we decided then it would be good to do every other week, but because of Thanksgiving and busy schedules it just hasn't worked out...therefore it was long overdue!:) We had a nice dinner at Olive Garden!!! It was the sweetest thing...sitting in the booth behind us was a family with 4 children. Apparently the dad serves in our military and we overheard that someone paid for his family's dinner as a way of saying "thank you". How incredible is that!! It just warmed my heart to hear how there is still good in this world. So many times I turn on the news and just see all of the bad things going on...so it was so refreshing to hear of someone being so generous and thoughtful to a complete stranger!! After our dinner at Olive Garden we went to Babies R' Us.:) Haha! What a date night, right?!? But these days when you get a chance to get out and get things done, you take advantage of it!! We were on the hunt for a bassinet...I told Nick that it was time to move her from sleeping in the Rock n Play to a bassinet so she could transition to sleeping flat in preparation for getting her ready for sleeping in her crib in the next few months. Well...we looked at the bassinets, then Nick saw this other thing called a Sound Sleeper. It is something that you put in the bed with you that the baby sleeps in. HE wants her to sleep in the bed with us! I was not about to go into a full blown debate with him about this in the middle of the store, so I told him OK and we bought it. The Lord must have heard my prayer because when we got home we realized that she didn't have much room in that at all and it would be a waste of $50 if we kept it. (HALLELUJAH!) Now I love my sweet baby girl...but I do not want her to get into the habit of sleeping in the bed with us. I've had too many friends tell me how hard it was to eventually get their children out of the bed and that was a battle that I was not wanting to face. Of course, Nick, being a man....only thinks about the "here and now" and not the future repercussions! Plus, I don't know if he quite values his sleep as much as I do!;-) While we were at Babies R' Us we also took note of a couple in line in front of us...each had a cart packed high with TOYS! I am not sure how many children they have, but all Nick and I kept thinking was where was all of that STUFF going to go in their house?!? Haha!! Oh the things we have to look forward to!!:) Between the Pack n' Play, Tummy Time Mat, Glider, Rock n' Play and Jonah's dog bed...we already have a tiny trail to walk in our bedroom!!:) After our shopping adventure we went by Starbucks to end the night with a cozy drink.:) YUM! Then, when we pulled into our neighborhood we decided to ride around looking at the Christmas lights!! Of course I was just admiring how differently each house was decorated, but Nick was comparing our house and how many lights we had up to everyone else's! HAHA!!:) Overall we had a wonderful date night! As much as we love our sweet girl, we do love our US time, too!!:) <3 :)
Friday, December 12
Aunt Debu and Aunt Rhetta came to visit Lilly!! She fell asleep for her afternoon nap right before they got to our house and she ended up sleeping the whole time they were here. Aunt Rhetta held her while she slept. Then I laid her down and told them bye. As soon as they were pulling out of the driveway she woke up. :) Little stinker!!:):) She was all dressed up for their visit in her Christmas tutu outfit!!:)

Saturday, December 13
Lilly and I woke up around 7 and I fed her. We stayed up talking and smiling for a little bit then I put her in the bed with Nick. I got ready and left a note for Nick by the bed telling him that I was gone shopping and I would be back in a little while. I needed to get some Christmas shopping done and it just seemed like the perfect time to go.:) I was able to get a lot of the shopping done at Ross and Marshall's! I got back home after being gone for about 3 hours and I found Nick standing in the living room in front of the T.V. Half dressed holding Lilly who was also half dressed.:) Nick doesn't put her pants back on her when he changes her diaper. Since he goes around our house with missing articles of clothing on (shirt, etc.) he thinks Lilly should, too! ;-) He said that she had a big poop while I was gone! Those are not his favorite diapers to change! He wanted us to go to Gaffney to shop at the outlet mall. So I jokingly asked him if he had her outfit ready and her diaper bag packed. He looked at me like I was crazy and said “she won't let me put her down. I can't get anything done.” I just had to laugh!! I guess because I am so used to spending all day everyday multitasking with her I don't see why he couldn't have done all of that!:):) The other funny part is that they napped for an hour and a half of the time I was gone so he only had her awake for an hour and a half!!!:):) Well with my help of course we ended up getting dressed, getting our bags packed (diaper bag, pumping stuff, etc.) and heading out the door a few hours later. It really is a lot when we go somewhere! SO much stuff to bring!! We were on the interstate headed to Gaffney and soon realized we had forgotten to put the stroller in the car! So, we had to turn around!! Too funny!! We enjoyed the nice weather and strolling her around the mall. It was really hard to enjoy being in the shops though because they were so crowded! People were everywhere and the racks and shelves in the stores are so close together I couldn't get the stroller in and out very easily at all. It was pretty much an unsuccessful shopping trip for Lilly and I, but Nick ended up getting a few things. We had to head to the food court to look for an outlet to plug in the bottle warmer after we were there for a little bit. We sat there feeding her wondering if it was always going to be such a chore to go anywhere...but I am sure it will!:) We ended up running into Nick's friend from high school's parents. They live at Lake Hartwell so it was really random to run into them. I'm glad they got to meet Lilly! They kept talking about how precious she was!
Sunday, December 14
We went to Poppy and JoJo's at 6:00 for Laine's birthday celebration! Lilly wore her “Santa Loves Me” outfit that Kelly and Josh got her! She looked so cute!! We all took turns taking pictures with her in front of their tree!!

Lilly was done taking pictures at this point! Haha :):)

 Sweet baby girl...fast asleep:)

Sweet dreams of memories being made!:)

Monday, December 15
Lilly and I spent the day together just us girls because Nick had to travel and was gone all day. My mom came by when she got off of work to help me wrap books that I bought my students for Christmas. Lilly hung out with us while we wrapped books and listened to Christmas music. My mom read one of the books to Lilly and changed the character's name in the book to Lilly! It was so cute! Nick put reindeer antlers on Jonah and took his picture with Lilly! Too funny!! She was looking at him like she felt so sorry for him!! ;-)

Jonah before we was bribed with a T-R-E-A-T ;-)

Now with a treat in close proximity he will happily wear the reindeer antlers and smile for the camera! ;-)

Tuesday, December 16
Nick traveled again today. My mom came to watch Lilly on her lunch break while I went to school to visit my students. I brought them cupcakes and their Christmas books that we wrapped last night. It was soo good to see them!! They were surprised when I showed up! They all came running up to hug me as soon as I walked into the door!! It brought tears to my eyes to see how happy they were to see me and how they had missed me! I read them one of my favorite Christmas books... “Christmas Lizard”. :) I enjoyed getting to see them and spend time with them for a little bit. It makes me somewhat excited about going back in January, but then again it makes me sad to think that my days are not going to be spent with my sweet girl! Bittersweet for sure. :-/ When I got back home mom said that Lilly napped the hour that I was gone. She woke up right as mom was leaving so mom stayed for a little bit longer to see Lilly. I could tell she didn't want to go back to work!! I fed Lilly her bottle and then I turned on the T.V. And found a Disney movie...”Santa Buddies”. Lilly spent some time sitting up in her boppy holding her head up “watching” the movie. :) It was nice outside so we took Jonah for a walk. When Nick got home we loaded the car and headed to Georgia to his mom's. She slept the entire car ride to their house. When we got there Nick's mom fed her while we ate and then we gave her a bath.

Watching Santa Buddies with mommy and working on holding my head up:)

Jonah is leading the way...he thinks he's a reindeer:)

Wednesday, December 17...10 Weeks Old!!
Nick's mom watched Lilly while Madi and I went to Kohl's and to a boutique. I was on the hunt for some Christmas jammies. She had one pair, but I wasn't sure how good they were going to fit her. Plus I am always looking for an excuse to shop...especially for her! I didn't have any luck finding her any jammies, but I did get her a few pair of leggings. At lunch Nick's mom, Lilly, and I went to pick Kayleigh up from school and then we headed to The Cheesecake Factory for the Icon Christmas party! During the car ride there, Lilly had a big poo so we headed to the bathroom to change her diaper as soon as we got there. I was so worried that it got on her cute Santa outfit...and it did. :( Kayleigh watched Lilly so I could go to the sink and try to wash out her shirt and I used the hand dryer to dry it. I was so relieved that I was able to get it clean. Then I went back to get her dressed and I realized that it was also on her pants...and it was not going to come out because her poo is yellow and her pants had white on them so you could see the yellow stain.:( Luckily I had bought those black leggings that morning at Kohl's, so I ran to the car to get them. It didn't look nearly as cute as her chevron pants, but she at least got to keep on her cute Santa top!:) Everyone from Nick's work got to meet Lilly as we ate lunch and had delicious cheesecake for dessert! Nick opted for the classic Strawberry cheesecake, which was delicious, and I had the Oreo cheesecake.:) Lilly slept most of the time we were there and then she woke up so we asked for a cup of hot water to warm a bottle for her. I really enjoyed being able to be there for Nick's Christmas party! It's not something that I normally get to do since I would have been at work any other time. We headed home when Nick got off of work that night. Lilly once again slept the entire 2 hour ride home!

Lilly's first trip to The Cheesecake Factory:)

 YUM! YUM! Oreo Cheesecake:)

Nick was excited about his Strawberry Cheesecake:)

Thursday, December 18
Lilly and I napped together fro 8-10, then my phone rang. It was my friend, Kim, who has been my best friend since 5th grade and she also does my hair.:) She had a cancellation and called to see if I wanted to get my hair done. She came over to help watch Lilly while I pumped and got ready really quick then we headed to her shop so she could color my hair. Lilly slept most of the time we were there.:) When we got back home, Lilly and I just hung out for the rest of the day. She giggled for the first time when we were having one of our cooing/talking, laughing/smiling times. It was the sweetest thing!! I started crying! I just don't want to think about her going to daycare and me missing those moments! I have LOVED every minute of getting to spend so much time with her!! It makes my heart so sad that I will have to go back to work and miss her giggles, and sweet smiles!! My mom came by when she got off of work and hung out with us for a little bit.:) She loves coming to spend time with Lilly. Her favorite thing to do is take her into her nursery and lay her in her crib and talk to her. She has 100 videos of Lilly talking and smiling in there. My mom also bought a singing Christmas bear and she loves to watch Lilly's reaction to it. She also sings “Lilly the Bright Eyed Reindeer” to her...a song she made up the lyrics to! It's precious! It makes my heart so happy when I hear my mom in there with her!

Lilly and Kim:)

 Lilly in her snowgirl outfit:)

Friday, December 19
My sister came over around lunch time and enjoyed spending time smiling and talking to sweet Lilly. She calls her Lilly Bear.:) We got ready and took Lilly to the mall with us. She slept the whole time we were gone! We had a fun time together and it makes me look forward to the many mall and shopping trips we will have with Lilly in the future!! My mom came to watch Lilly when she got off of work so Nick and I could run some errands. You would have never guessed that one of our stops was Babies R' Us!! We also went by my friend Haley's house to get two outfits that she was letting us buy that her daughter, Banks couldn't wear for Christmas. It was SO great seeing them!! Banks has gotten so big!! She is just precious!! Every time we see them I get mad at myself for not making more time to hang out with them. I want Lilly and Banks to grow up and be the best of friends! Haley and Christopher are very grounded in their faith and their relationship with God. They are going to raise Banks to love The Lord as much as they do!:) A trip to Starbucks was also on the agenda for our trip! I couldn't pass up a yummy, warm Caramel Bruelee!:)
Saturday, December 20
It was a lazy, rainy day! Lilly mimicked Nick perfectly by putting her lips together and trying to blow out! It was so precious!! Nick and just laughed and smiled so big!! Lilly and Nick took an afternoon nap together while I tried to get some cleaning and Christmas wrapping done.:)
Sunday, December 21
We got ready and went to Nick's dad's (Poppy) and step mom’s (JoJo) for our Christmas get together! We had to do it early this year because Josh and Kelly were going out of town to see Kelly's family so we weren't going to be able to do it like we normally do on Christmas Eve. Lilly had so much fun with everyone! She loves talking to Nanny! She gets so glued to her when she talks to her! She also had fun with Jacob. I think she was even flirting with her Uncle Jake a little bit! ;-) Everybody loved holding her and spending time with her!:) A crazy thing that happened was the grill caught on fire! Jacob had to go down to the boat and get the fire extinguisher. Luckily nobody was hurt! Lilly woke up from a nap at 6, we fed her and then headed to my Aunt Jan's for our Christmas get together. We had a great time over there, too! Everybody thought Lilly just looked gorgeous in her Christmas dress!! They all talked about how they see my daddy in her in some of her pictures. It made me smile so big! I love that she has a part of him in her!

All dressed up and headed off to my Christmas parties:)

Monday, December 22
It was a fun day with my sweet baby girl! Good naps..good burps...good poops! ;-) We went into her nursery for awhile and she laid in her crib staring at her bird mobile that my Aunt Jan made her. She smiled and watched it for awhile.:) I dressed her in her “Grandpa's Little Cupcake” outfit. I started crying when she was laying in her crib because I started thinking about my daddy and wishing he was here to meet Lilly. I listened to a voice mail that I had saved on my cell phone that my daddy left me. I love being able to still hear his voice, but it makes me miss him so much!! Lilly napped for an hour in her crib. That makes me happy that she feels so comfortable in there. I dread the first night she sleeps in there, but I am glad that she is getting use to being in her nursery so it won't feel so strange to her. When Nick got off of work we ran a few last minute errands for Christmas gifts. Lilly slept the few hours we were gone. My mom came over when she got off of work and watched Lilly so Nick and I could go to Wal-Mart and get a few groceries and things we needed for our upcoming trip. She fed Lilly and gave her a bath while we were gone. She spent a lot of time awake before my mom left cooing and smiling with her. I rocked Lilly to sleep around 10 and I just sat there in the stillness of our bedroom and felt her breathing against my chest. It made me cry just thinking about how happy I am and how truly grateful I am for this sweet miracle...our baby. I just soaked in every piece of that moment holding my precious baby girl. Through my tears all I could whisper was what came to my heart first... 'Thank you God.”
It was a rainy day...good day to wear her Snoozies:)

 Mommy's happy girl!:)

 Just too stinkin' cute:)

She loved watching the birds on her mobile:)

Tuesday, December 23

Wednesday, December 24...Lilly's First Christmas Eve...
11 Weeks Old!!
We sat in the living room with Lilly watching the movie “Love Actually”. Nick and I started watching it last Christmas, but I fell asleep (which happens a lot of times when we are watching movies)...so he has been anxious for me to watch it again. It definitely isn't a movie for Lilly to watch one day when she knows what's going on. It was a cute movie, but we didn't get to finish it.:) We kept getting interrupted by the neighbors bringing over Christmas gifts and stopping by to see Lilly.:) Then Nick's dad stopped by to bring me letters that he had printed for me. My mom also stopped by and Nick took a few pictures of her and Lilly...her first Christmas Eve as a grandma:) We went to Nick's nanny's house about 2:30. She had a bottle before we left and she fell asleep in the car on our way there. Everybody was anxious for you to wake up when we got there, but she ended up sleeping for an hour or so, then I woke her up to have her bottle. They all were happily fussing over who was going to hold her first. Nick's nanny came up to me as soon as we got there and whispered that she wanted to be the one to hold her as soon as she woke up. ;-) How sweet!! So many people who just love her to pieces!! Larry/Gandy got to feed Lilly some of her bottle and he burped her. He loved getting to do that.:) We opened Lilly's presents from Nick's mom, the girls and Marty. They got Lilly so many neat gifts!! My favorite is the ExerSaucer...I know Lilly is going to LOVE that!! After we left Nanny Sandra's, we went to the other side of the lake to Nick's dad's house for their Christmas Party. This get together was for Allen family from out of town.:) Lilly got to meet some of her relatives for the very first time!! Lilly got to meet her cousin, Avalyn, who is 7 months old. It was so sweet seeing them together and knowing they are going to grow up playing together!! Everybody once again enjoyed loving on her and holding her. Once again she loved when Nanny Bob talked to her and she spent a lot of time staring at her and talking back. I think she likes the sound of Nanny's voice!

Hanging out with mommy and daddy before the big parties:)

All decked out!

What do you think of my bow? Is it big enough?!?;-)

Thursday, December 25...Lilly's First Christmas!!
She slept in her rock n' play and then when she had her early morning bottle I put her in the bed with us and she fell back asleep. It was the sweetest thing waking up with her in the bed with us on her very fist Christmas morning! We both rolled over to her and told her Merry Christmas!:) I can't remember a Christmas morning ever feeling so special! We spent the whole day in our pajamas!! I wanted to take some Christmas pictures of Lilly so we had a mini photo shoot in front of our Christmas tree. Precious memories. Precious moments that I wanted to capture in pictures. :) Joy and David stopped by to bring us a few things that we left over at their house the night before and then Chuck and Margaret stopped by to see Lilly again on their way to a Christmas party in Greenville. My sister and my mom came over and we hung out and spent a lot of time in the kitchen together cooking our Christmas dinner. Turkey, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, broccoli casserole, corn, green beans...YUM, YUM YUM! It was fun just being with them and spending time together!! In between cooking I was busy cleaning the house and packing for our trip the next day! It was such a fun day spent in our jammies until Nick and I threw on some 'real clothes' to take some pictures with Lilly.:) Her first Christmas so so special just enjoying being together as a family of three for the very first Christmas..well 4..plus Jonah! ;-)
