Blessings...Contractions and Answered Prayers:)

Friday, September 5, 2014
Nick and his brothers had been planning a camping trip for some time now. It was all they talked about when they were around each other. They went all out too! Making lists of what they needed and going to Academy and Wal-Mart to get everything to prepare them for their excursion! I was excited that he was spending time with them even though I missed him when he was gone. Here is a picture of them before they left...
While Nick was gone I was able to get in some sister time!! Kimberly and I hung out! We went to dinner with Emily (Jacob's girlfriend) and Kelly, my sister-in-law! We had a really good time hanging out!! I'm glad that we made time to get together and we all agreed that we should do it more often!! Haley and Christopher stopped by the house to get the Rock n Play for their baby girl, Banks. After being born 11 weeks early she was finally supposed to come home from the hospital on Saturday. We held hands and prayed over them in prayer that God would have it in His plan to bring her home!

Sure enough an answered prayer on Saturday...here is sweet Banks at home... :):)

Saturday was a rough day for this pregnant momma! I woke up early with very bad contractions. I felt like they were just the Braxton Hicks contractions because they were inconsistent, but my goodness they were painful and kept going and going for hours. I finally called the doctor's office and spoke with a  nurse about 11:30. She told me to take some Tylenol, drink a glass of water and lay on my left side for an hour...then if that didn't help I needed to go to the hospital. I called Nick and let him know what was going on. They were headed home at this point so it made me feel better that he wasn't too far from home in case anything happened. In the meantime my sweet, sweet sister was with me taking care of me. :) And my mom came over, too. So thankful for them both!!
I followed what the nurse told me and an hour later I found myself in the shower getting myself ready to go to the hospital because I was still having contractions and I was in a lot of pain. After the shower I felt better though...I guess the heat helped. So, I laid back down. Nick got home a little later and we just decided to be lazy at home. I got to hear about all of the fun they had camping!!
Around 7:30 I started having contractions again and cramping really bad! I guess the Tylenol had worn off. I toughed it out for a few hours, then decided to call the nurse again to see what she thought. She felt that since I was hurting so bad I should go be seen at labor and delivery. So, around 11:30 Nick drove us up there. We had to wait an hour in the waiting room for a room to get cleaned. I timed the contractions while we were waiting. They were very close together and some more painful than others. I really didn't think they were the real thing, but I just wanted to make sure Lilly was okay. I knew I could handle the pain if all of this was normal, but I just wanted to make sure I was taking precautions for her. The hooked me up to machines to monitor her heartbeat and the contractions. I also had a little clicker to push when I felt her moving. The nurse checked my cervix and found that I was dilated at a 1. She said that she would check again in an hour and if I was dilated further then it meant I was in active labor, but if not then it meant it was false contractions. Poor Nick was so exhausted from camping he was about to fall asleep in his little chair while we waited it out. She checked me again an hour later, but no change so we signed the paperwork and were on our way home about 2:00 A.M. I felt much better knowing that she was okay and that there wasn't anything going on that wasn't normal. Thank you God for a healthy, growing baby!!

Nick drove to Atlanta this morning to go into the office and work for a few days. His office planned a Diaper Shower for Lillian. :):) Too sweet!! Here are some pictures from his work shower...

Thank you to everyone who helped plan the shower and to those who got Lilly some much needed gifts!! :):)

My doctor's appointment was at 3:00. I left school and went home to pick up Nick and then we headed to our appointment. I had to pee so bad, but I knew I would have to give a urine sample so I held it until I got there. I guess I got so excited about going to the bathroom I completely forgot to pee in the cup when I went to the bathroom!! The nurse said it was okay and I could give a urine sample before I left. When I told Nick about forgetting to pee in the cup he just laughed...I have to blame it on pregnancy brain...what else could it possibly be?!? :)
They had scheduled an ultrasound and it went great!! Lilly's measurements were right where they should be for how far along I am. She is in the 63rd percentile and her heartbeat was 158 B.P.M. According to the ultrasound she is measuring 6 lbs. 3 oz.! The ultrasound tech wasn't able to get any pictures of her face because she is so low!! When I saw the doctor she checked my cervix and said that I'm at about a 1 1/2. She also predicted that I would go before my due date...uh oh! We shall see!! They found that my amniotic fluid level was at a 6 and they want it at an8, so they told me to drink more water. I feel like I drink a lot of water already, because other than my orange juice in the morning it is all I drink all day. However, I guess just because I only drink water doesn't mean I drink enough. :-/
One little alarming thing that happened during the ultrasound was when the tech was showing me Lilly's feet because I was telling her that she is always on my right side. She came across my right kidney. She said that it was very enlarged. She checked my left kidney, but it was normal. The doctor came in to see my right kidney. She called another doctor to see if I should be seen by them immediately. The doctor said to monitor it closely. Sometimes this happens to women when they are pregnant because the baby puts so much pressure. Ideally they want the kidney to go back to normal after I deliver. They will check my kidney again with an ultrasound after delivery. Of course the normal response is to worry about all of the 'what-ifs'...knowing that this wasn't affecting Lilly took a lot off of me, but I started wondering...was this going to affect me being able to have another baby? What if something more serious was wrong with my kidney and they hadn't found it out yet? BUT...for now...I have to take what I know and trust that God is in control. Worrying myself over it wasn't going to help anything. They scheduled my next appointment for Monday at 2:30...another ultrasound. I made a Pic Collage that I sent out to family and friends after my appointment...:)
I love the bible verse on this one!!!:):)

I stayed at school pretty late. I started feeling contractions coming on and they felt bad. I didn't know how I was going to drive home because it made me feel almost delirious. I had a feeling it was brought on from me working so late and just being exhausted. Thankfully I made it home. I laid down and still didn't get much relief. I monitored the contractions, but they were pretty inconsistent. I was just very tired and very uncomfortable. I fell asleep and ended up resting pretty well though.

Nick and I woke up and got going this morning. I wanted to get a few things done because I kept thinking she's going to come before her due date and we have to be ready!! We went to Chick-Fil-A and grabbed breakfast, then we went to Target to look for me some comfy clothes and nursing bras and tank tops, Babies-R-Us to get the rest of the necessities on our registry, Old Navy to look at more comfy clothes, and Kirkland's to get a few things for our house. I felt pretty good all morning doing those errands. I went to get a pedicure when we got back home and it was nice to be pampered.:)
I got back home and that's when I started feeling bad again. I'm not sure if my body still needed more rest and I ignored that by going, going, going all day?!?
My friend Erica was having her couples baby shower that night at 5:30 and I was determined to go. I laid down for a few hours hoping to get some relief, but I felt awful...constant cramping and contractions coming and going. Finally about 5:00 I had to let Erica know that I wasn't going to be able to make it.:( I knew my body needed rest and I couldn't keep pushing myself. I got some much needed rest Saturday night, but I didn't feel much relief until I fell asleep that night.

Nick and I didn't make it to church this morning. I still wasn't feeling the best at all. I knew I still needed to rest. Also, our maternity pictures were scheduled for 5:30 and if I was going to feel up to that I needed to take it easy. So, we stayed in the bed all day watching T.V., movies, football, and just being lazy! I knew I needed to cherish these 'nothing days' because they would be few and far between once Lilly arrives!!:) The weather was pretty dreary and the photographer ended up canceling the photo session. Apart of me was relieved because I was so not up to getting ready, but then again I got worried that Lilly might come before we got the pictures done. BUT it is what it is and I knew worrying wasn't going to help anything!:)

I drank and drank and drank and drank water from the time we left the doctor's office Thursday afternoon until I went in Nick and I went to my appointment at 2:30. I went in thinking the ultrasound was scheduled to recheck my kidney, however I was pleasantly surprised when I went and it was a very detailed ultrasound to check EVERYTHING!! My amniotic fluid went from a 6 to a 12...which may explain why my weight went from 128-131 in 4 days! WHOA! :) The ultrasound tech checked so many things...The blood flow from the umbilical cord, her measurements again, her practice breathing...which was so sweet watching her breathing on her own...the tech had me hold my breath to see if Lilly would respond by breathing on her own and she did! It made me want to cry!! She looked so precious! She knew exactly what to do! God you are amazing! Every intricate detail! The tech checked my right kidney and it looked the same...she also checked my left kidney and it was enlarged as well but not as bad as the right one. They are still going to monitor it after I deliver since right now it is not causing harm to Lilly or me. The tech was able to get some face pictures of her even though she's so low. Lilly was sleeping when she was taking the pictures and her little hand was tucked right by her cheek. The tech said she was going to be a chunky baby...she said look at those cheeks!:) I can't wait to see her!! After the ultrasound, the doctor checked my cervix and said that I was still at about a 1 1/2 and she felt like that was a great place to be with how far along I am. Soo...the waiting game continues!!:):) Here are a few of the ultrasound pictures...

Tuesday, September 16-Friday, September 19
My week went pretty well! I felt good for the most part. Any contractions seemed to come around 5:30 and I was still at school working on substitute plans for the time I was going to be out. Kimberly came up one afternoon to help me and I started having really bad contractions. I had a few that made me stop what I was doing and have to catch my breath. I felt like they were just Braxton hicks contractions though because of how inconsistent they were. She came over that night after helping me and we made fish and grilled veggies. It was fun getting to hang out together. I know how much I am going to miss this 'us time' when Lilly gets here. Just nice right now being able to cherish these moments and making memories. I stayed at school late on Friday and I had to lay down on the floor in my classroom because I was in so much pain. I called Nick and almost had him come drive me home because I didn't think I would be able to make it. They eased up though and I drove home and got right in the bed. I felt bad for overdoing it because I knew my body was telling me I was tired.

I cleaned the house on Saturday and so did Nick. He has been so funny lately about cleaning things. Random things...the fans...the windows...I mean don't get me wrong, they do need to be cleaned, but it's just funny watching him get so particular about things. He did a great detailed job cleaning our bathroom on Saturday. I don't think our shower or our tub has ever looked so shiny and white! Here is a picture of him cleaning the window in Lilly's nursery (her nursery is not finished yet)...

Kimberly came over that night and we went to Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and Kirkland's. My maternity pictures got rescheduled for tomorrow and I found a few things on Pinterest that I wanted to make for the photo shoot! We spent hours looking at things and we had a lot of fun doing it!! We both never knew how much crafty stuff there was!! All of the ideas that I saw on Pinterest started coming to life as we found the materials we needed for each one. I was so excited!! We got back to my house and put a few things together while watching the Clemson game, then we called it a night.
Here I am in the floor at Hobby Lobby trying out the size of the letters! HAHA!:)

I woke up and got some papers graded. I also did my quiet time. I love when I make time to just sit and get into The Word. I also read in my pregnancy devotional about being 37 weeks. I love reading about what Lilly is doing in my belly and how she's growing and changing. I also love how the author brings everything to giving God the honor and glory...His name is constantly magnified.
I went to Wal-Mart later in the morning to get some groceries for the week. Kimberly started getting me ready around 2. Hair and make-up done by THE BEST!! I don't know what I what do without her!! I definitely would not have good hair or make-up for pictures! She is a lifesaver!!! I am not good at doing my hair or make-up on regular days, much less for special occasions.
We went by my Aunt Jan's on the way to Tyger Pines. My Aunt Jan was letting us borrow a quilt and she was using her fancy handwriting to write on the chalkboards for us. :) The quilt was so special because my great grandma, Minnie Mae, made it and she is one reason that Lillian's middle name is Mae. :)
We left her house and went to Tyger Pines. This is where Nick and I got married so I was SOOO excited about being back at this special place where we said our vows!! It looked soooo beautiful and I was sooo excited about getting our pictures made here! The scenery is breathtaking!! The photo shoot went great! I can't wait to see the pictures! The photographer was AWESOME!!! We had a lot of fun and had a lot of good laughs! Kimberly did a great job helping me with outfit changes, making sure my hair was in perfect place for each picture, and helped with prop changes and ideas. I don't know what I would do without her!
After the photo shoot, Nick, Kimberly, and I went by Sonic to get us a freeze drink and some mozzarella sticks.:) Then we headed to the house. It was a great day and a wonderful weekend with so many fun, sweet memories made!:)

So far so good this week with contractions and cramping not being too bad, but my ankle was really swollen. Normally at night it will go down when I'm sleeping and the next day it looks normal, but this week it was staying really puffy and my whole foot would feel numb sometimes. I decided I should mention it again when I went to the doctor that afternoon. They checked my blood pressure and it was great and my weight (no gain since last week...yay!).
Then it was time to go back and see the doctor for my cervix check...YAY! ;-) I was hoping for some progress to have been made, but nope...she said if she was generous she could give me a 2, but not more than that. Oh well...Lilly just isn't quite ready yet. :) And I'm honestly okay with that. I am enjoying this time right now for just Nick and I because I know our world is going to be forever changed once she gets here.:) PLUS the closer it gets to my due date I just know the inevitable is going to happen...I am going to give birth to a baby! AND it is not going to be a piece of cake! I don't know how it all will turn out, but I know it won't be easy!:)
I showed the doctor my ankle and she decided that I needed to get an ultrasound done of my leg to check for any possible blood clots. So, Nick and I went to another doctor's office and they did an ultrasound to check. From what I could tell it seemed to be fine, but she said my doctor would look over it the next day and let me know if there was anything to be concerned about. Who knew a car accident 10 years ago where I broke my ankle from pressing the brake so hard because a car illegally switched lanes and hit me head on...would be causing me so much pain and misery years later. :( It's okay though...I'm tough and I can handle it as long as my little baby is doing good!!
After the doctor's appointments Nick and I went to T.J. Maxx and found a few good deals...I found some comfy pajama pants, a gown, and a robe, and Nick found a jacket...then Apple Cider K Cups finished off our unplanned shopping trip. :) We met my friend Tonya and her fiancé, Dustin, at O'Charley's for a dinner date. We had a great time hanging out with them! They are getting married in November so they had the latest news on that to share and we of course had baby news to share with them.:) After dinner Nick and I headed home and to bed shortly after. :) Here are a few pictures from our dinner date... look at that BUMP! Oh how it's grown!!:)

I had a half day in my classroom with my kiddos then I was in a meeting from 11:30-3:00. My ankle was so swollen that I kept it propped up and ice on it to help. I stayed at school working on sub plans for a bit, then I was supposed to leave at 6:30 so we could meet Nick's dad, Joy, Josh, and Kelly for dinner. However, when I was getting ready to leave my foot was hurting so bad. It felt like a rubber band was around my ankle and my foot was numb. I drove home and told Nick that I didn't feel up to going to dinner...all I wanted to do was get some relief and I knew that meant getting in the bed and propping my foot up. So, we ate leftover Mexican Casserole from the night before...watched T.V. and then I was asleep by 9:30. Oh and Nick and I got to look at our maternity pictures online! We have to buy the CD so they are ours to share, but as soon as we do I will post pictures! They are soooo good!!!!!!:):) Sweet, precious, memories!!!!

I woke up at 4:30 A.M. and tried my best to go back to sleep, but that wasn't happening. I laid there for an hour before I decided to get up. I fixed some oatmeal and dried the dishes. Then, Jonah and I went into the guest room and I started working on my blog. I started getting tired so I closed my eyes, then Nick came in there about 7:30 and I went to get back in the bed with him. We fell back asleep until 9. I'm glad I was able to fall back asleep and get some more rest! I know we need to use this time for just that!!:) We got up and I fixed him some eggs and bacon and I ate some cereal. Mom came over to look at the maternity pictures online and we walked around the neighborhood. I cleaned a few things in the house, then around 12 we made our way to the bed and in front of the T.V. to watch the Georgia game. Our day was spent watching football and me working on this blog.:) It was another good day...rest...relaxation and just enjoying this 'us time'. :)
